Indian junior rifle shooters have accused an SAI coach of sexual harassment. The shooting team had gone to participate in the Junior World Championship held in Suhl, Germany, in June. It is alleged that some shooters were victims of sexual harassment during this period.

According to the Times of India, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has removed the accused coach from the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi.

Coach appeared before the Internal Complaints Committee

According to NRAI sources, the Internal Complaints Committee heard the coach’s response to the allegations made by the players. Following this, the NRAI sent its report to the SAI. Based on the report, the SAI removed the coach from the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range located in Tughlakabad.

However, no police complaint has been registered in this case so far.

The accused is an SAI employee

The coach facing the allegations is an SAI employee. Currently, the process of the Internal Complaints Committee is ongoing in the matter. The full nature of the allegations or the final findings of the investigation have not been revealed in the available information.

Sexual harassment allegations were also made during National Shooting Championship

A 17-year-old national-level female shooter accused national shooting coach Ankush Bhardwaj of sexual harassment at a hotel in Faridabad.

Acting on the athlete’s complaint, the police registered an FIR under the POCSO Act. It was alleged that in December 2025, during a national-level competition at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, the coach summoned her to the hotel under the pretext of evaluating her performance. Following this, the NRAI suspended Bhardwaj. Ankush is a former international shooter himself, and his wife is Anjum Moudgil, who has represented the country at the Olympics.
