Under Census 2027, population counting in areas outside the snow-bound regions of Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand will be carried out from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The Registrar General of India shared this information on Saturday.
People in these states will also be able to provide their details themselves from November 16 to November 30, 2026. This process is known as self-enumeration.
After the census, a revision phase will be carried out from January 5 to January 9, 2027. Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in these states early next year.
