Ritesh Hange, another accused in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, has been arrested by the Pune Rural Police on Friday night. He was produced before the Vadgaon Maval court on Saturday, which remanded him to police custody until 12 September.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Singh Gill said that Ritesh is a friend of the main accused, Chetan Chaudhary. Police suspect that Ritesh had also been consulted about the murder conspiracy. On this basis, he has been made a co-accused in the case.
Siya and Ketan had gone sightseeing at Pune’s Lohagad Fort on June 18. During the visit, Ketan died after falling into a ravine. Siya is accused of murdering her fiancé in collusion with her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary. Both are currently in police custody, and the investigation is underway.
Ketan’s body was found in the ravine after the search operation.
Met at a cafe before Ketan’s murder
One day before Ketan’s murder, on 17 June, accused Siya and her lover Chetan met at a cafe. It was here that they planned to push Ketan into a ravine at Lohagarh Fort, according to news agency IANS, citing police sources.
The two also identified the spot from where Ketan was to be pushed. If Ketan survived even this, a backup plan had been prepared to kill him in a road accident after 20 June.
In fact, on 31 May, Siya and her fiancé Ketan had gone to Lohagarh Fort. Ketan was sitting at a dangerous spot there. It was then that Siya got the idea to kill him.
On 14 June, an attempt was also made to push Ketan. At the time, Siya tried to pass off the incident as an accident by pretending that she had seen a snake, but Ketan survived.
Police claim that the two planned at the café itself to push Ketan into the gorge at Lohgarh Fort.
Siya and Chetan are calling each other the mastermind
In the Ketan murder case, his fiancée Siya and Siya’s lover Chetan have been sent to seven days of police remand. According to the police, Siya and Chetan Chaudhary are calling each other the mastermind behind the murder.
On Wednesday, the police questioned the two face-to-face. During this, their attitudes had changed. Chetan told the police that he wanted to elope with Siya, but she was not ready. The entire plan had been made by Siya.
Siya said that the idea of the murder had been Chetan’s. After the first attempt to kill Ketan on 14 June failed, Chetan had cried in front of her. However, the investigating officers said that this could be the accused’s defense strategy.
Siya and Ketan Agrawal got engaged in November 2025.
