The numbers have raised eyebrows. The CBI has booked media baron Subhash Chandra over allegations that inflated net-worth certificates were used to secure ₹980 crore in loans from LICHFL.
One certificate put his net worth at nearly ₹59,000 crore, while another valued it at ₹40,562 crore. Both loans later turned non-performing, with LICHFL claiming a loss of more than ₹1,322 crore. The CBI alleges collusion, use of false documents and diversion of funds. Chandra has disputed the figures, and the investigation is ongoing. READ MORE
CJP protest, arrest and FIR: What’s the Swatantra Bharadwaj case about?
One protest, one arrest and now fresh charges—the case involving CJP activist Nishu Azad’s father has taken another turn. Swatantra Bharadwaj was arrested in Bulandshahr over the alleged June 23 assault on Sanjay Azad and sent to one-day police custody.

1. Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan will begin a four-day visit to Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh tomorrow, September 6. On the first day, he will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Geetanagar College and the convocation ceremony of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences in Guwahati.
2. Western Railway will conduct a five-hour Jumbo Block between Churchgate and Mumbai Central on Sunday, September 6, for essential track, signalling and overhead equipment maintenance. Several suburban services will be cancelled, short-terminated or diverted, while some trains will operate with revised timings.
3. Bigg Boss Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam editions to premiere together on September 6. In a first, the four editions of the reality show will premiere on JioHotstar on the same date. Salman Khan will host the Hindi edition, Vijay Sethupathi the Tamil version, Kichcha Sudeep the Kannada edition and Mohanlal the Malayalam show.
4. East Zone will take on South Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026-27 final, starting on Sunday, 6 September.
