Delhi Police have arrested seven people, including a minor, in connection with the alleged mob killing of 54-year-old Manipur-origin musician Chongtham Vikram Singh in South Delhi.
The incident took place around 11:30 pm on September 6, when Singh, who lived in the Ashram area, reportedly went outside his home to object to a loud argument and commotion involving a delivery worker and employees of a nearby dhaba.
According to Singh’s wife, Joshna, the dispute escalated after he confronted the group. She alleged that eight people followed Singh to his doorstep and assaulted him.
Singh’s family members opened the door after hearing the commotion, following which the attackers fled. Singh was taken to hospital after he developed breathing difficulties and his blood pressure dropped sharply. He died around 6 am on September 7.

Singh’s wife Joshna said the family does not want revenge but is seeking justice.
I lost my husband and my son lost his father. My husband was a peace-loving musician and lived a peaceful life. We hope such an incident never happens to another family and that justice is served.
Singh was a known figure in Manipur’s western music scene. He had played guitar with bands including Ultra Vires, Phoenix and Eastern Dark. He was also the eldest son of renowned Manipuri singer Chongtham Kamala.
