A police officer was found hanging inside the barracks of Habra police station in North 24 Parganas, triggering tension in the area.
Deceased identified as Biswanath Sen
The deceased has been identified as Biswanath Sen, a sub-inspector posted at Habra police station under the Barasat district police.
Officer scheduled to appear in court
According to preliminary information, Sen was scheduled to appear at the Barasat court on Monday. However, his colleagues could not find him on the police station premises since morning. They also tried calling his mobile phone but received no response.
Locked barracks raised suspicion among colleagues
The officers then went to his barracks to look for him. As the door was locked from inside, they became suspicious. The colleagues later broke open the door and found Sen hanging inside the room.

According to preliminary findings, Sen was found hanging with a gamcha tied around his neck and attached to a window. However, the exact circumstances leading to his death remain unclear.
Habra police have started an investigation into the incident. The body has been sent to Barasat Medical College for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
