81-year-old Asgar Ali Vohra, a resident of Mira Road in Thane, Maharashtra, has found relief in a land dispute. Eight days after his meeting with PM Modi, BJP MLA Narendra Mehta has said he would relinquish possession of the disputed land linked to Vohra and surrender the construction permit.
Vohra had met PM Modi on 8 September, demanding intervention in the land dispute and a CBI inquiry. Photographs of their meeting had also emerged. Vohra claims to have studied alongside PM Modi at BN School in Vadnagar, Gujarat.
Vohra had been running between government offices for 15 years
According to Vohra, he had been raising the issue of the land dispute with various government departments for around 15 years over the land dispute. He alleges that fake documents were prepared without his knowledge, and the land was divided between two companies.
These companies are named Swayam Builders and Seven Eleven Constructions. Vohra had claimed both companies were linked to Narendra Mehta. An FIR was also registered in the matter in 2015.
Officials summoned companies after the meeting
According to Vohra, activity on the case picked up after his meeting with the PM. The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation had summoned the management of both companies on 16 September to present their side and provide clarification on the matter.
Even before that, on Tuesday, the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shrikar Pardeshi called a meeting at the ministry. It was attended by Vohra, Narendra Mehta, Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Commissioner Radha Binod Sharma, and Town Planner Purushottam Shinde.
Company demands Corporation cancel construction permit
After the meeting, Seven Eleven Construction Private Limited said it was withdrawing entirely from the matter. According to official documents, the company submitted a letter to the Assistant Director of Town Planning at the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, surrendering the plot’s commencement certificate.
The company said it had purchased the plot through a registered deed on 13 June 2019 and obtained construction permission on 17 April 2026. However, after the dispute over the permit, the company decided to return the permit. It has asked the municipal corporation to cancel the construction permit and refund the fees deposited for the project.
‘Will withdraw old police complaint’, says Mehta
Narendra Mehta sent a separate letter to the Police Commissioner, stating that he would withdraw the earlier complaint filed against Vohra and his associate Ajay Dhoka, saying a settlement had been reached between both parties.
The 2015 complaint had accused Vohra and Dhoka of encroachment and issuing threats. Letters related to withdrawing the complaint have been submitted to the concerned officials.
