Commonwealth Games to return to India after two decades

The Commonwealth Games will return to India after two decades and will be organized in Ahmedabad. In the year 2010, Delhi hosted this major event for the first time.

Ahmedabad is also in the race to host the 2036 Olympics. Since Sanghvi also handles the sports department, he is representing the city in the discussions with the International Olympic Committee.

India is currently in the ‘continuous dialogue’ phase of the host selection process. A decision on the country’s bid is not expected before 2029.

Police and Fire Games will be held in Ahmedabad first

The World Police and Fire Games will be the first major multi-sport international competition to be held in Ahmedabad in 2029 before all these events. About 10,000 athletes from 70 countries will participate in this event.
