Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan recently spoke about his family connection with Saif Ali Khan.
Saif had appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati with his Haivan co-star Akshay Kumar. In the show’s promo, Amitabh told Saif, “Many people don’t know that he is related to us.”
Saif looked surprised and asked, “Me?” Amitabh then explained the connection between their families through the Kapoor and Nanda families.
Amitabh explains the Kapoor-Nanda connection
Explaining the relationship, Amitabh said, “Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu’s son Nikhil is married to my daughter Shweta.”
He then jokingly asked Saif what Kareena Kapoor would call him. Saif replied, “Thank God this question is not on the show.”
Saif and Amitabh’s family connection
Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Bachchan is married to Nikhil Nanda. Nikhil’s mother, Ritu Nanda, was the daughter of filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor was Kareena Kapoor’s grandfather. Kareena is the daughter of Raj Kapoor’s eldest son, Randhir Kapoor.
Therefore, Nikhil Nanda and Kareena Kapoor are cousins. Since Saif Ali Khan is married to Kareena, his connection with the Bachchan family is through marriage rather than a direct relationship such as uncle and niece.
Amitabh and Kareena have worked together
Amitabh Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor have shared the screen in films including Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Dev (2004) and Satyagraha (2013).
Amitabh has also worked with Saif Ali Khan in Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007) and Aarakshan (2011).
Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming projects
On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will next be seen in Priyadarshan’s directorial Haivan. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Rajpal Yadav, Sharib Hashmi, Rajesh Sharma, Pahal Chaudhary and Manoj Joshi in important roles.
Haivan is a remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam film Oppam, which starred Mohanlal in the lead role.
Kareena Kapoor’s upcoming film
Kareena Kapoor was last seen in Singham Again (2024). She will next appear in Daira, directed by Meghna Gulzar.
In the film, Kareena will play a police officer. Daira is scheduled to release in theatres on 18 September 2026.
