Actress Bipasha Basu recently opened up about facing trolling over her weight and body after the birth of her daughter.
In a conversation with Elle India, Bipasha said that women are often expected to maintain a body like that of a 20-year-old even after giving birth.
Bipasha said – the mindset around women’s bodies is strange
Bipasha said, “Even today, the things said about women’s bodies are quite strange. It feels like even at the age of 40, after giving birth to a child, you are expected to return to a body like that of a 20-year-old.”
She added, “What is expected from a 20-year-old woman is also expected from a 40-year-old woman. If you don’t return to your old shape quickly, you will be trolled. People will be very ruthless.”
Bipasha Basu gave birth to her first daughter at the age of 43.
Bipasha said – Paparazzi took awkward pictures of me
Bipasha faced this herself after the birth of her daughter, Devi. She said, “I had to face a lot of trolling. Some paparazzi took very awkward pictures of me. They don’t see how hard a woman is working or how much she has to manage while taking care of a child. She has her own life, lifestyle and personal problems, but no one cares about that. Everyone just wants the woman to get back to her old body shape as quickly as possible.”
Bipasha said – trolling cannot break her
Bipasha said, “I am a very confident person, so no amount of trolling can break me. I know what my journey is, I know how much hard work I have to put in and when. I will move forward accordingly.”
Bipasha also said that she started telling everyone to love themselves because she realised that it is not just about looking good. It is something much deeper than that. It is important to stay healthy.
Daughter was born six years after marriage
Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover welcomed their daughter six years after their marriage. Their daughter, Devi, was born on November 12, 2022.
Bipasha has been away from the big screen for some time. There has also been a lot of discussion about her weight gain after pregnancy. Meanwhile, she shared her experience of being trolled after the birth of her child.
Bipasha and Karan got married in 2016.
Revealed daughter’s name in an Instagram post
Bipasha shared the news of her daughter’s birth through an Instagram post. In this same post, she also revealed her daughter’s name.
The post read, “12.11.2022. Devi Basu Singh Grover. The physical manifestation of our love and mother’s blessings is now with us and she is divine.”

Talking about her daughter in an interview, Bipasha said, “I share parts of my life because I like doing it and I am proud of my life, but I don’t want my daughter to face any kind of judgment at such a young age. I think it is everyone’s personal choice. You can be as private as you want to be, and as public as you want to be.”
The actress further added that when Devi suddenly calls me beautiful, it touches my heart directly. I feel that now I don’t need a compliment from anyone else, because my daughter considers me beautiful.”
