Actress Bipasha Basu found tiny insects in a newly opened jar of protein powder and shared a video of it on her Instagram Stories. She tagged Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe and appealed to him to intervene in the matter. Along with the video, Bipasha wrote, “Tukaram Mundhe, you are our only hope, so that whatever we buy does not contain spoiled or adulterated products.”
In the video, Bipasha showed a tiny insect on her finger. She said, “This isopure is filled with tiny insects. Very tiny insects. This is a new box that we have just opened.” She then showed the insect on her finger and said, “Here are the insects; it is filled with insects like these.”
People’s attention toward food safety is increasing in Maharashtra. Tukaram Mundhe is conducting various inspections and taking action against food businesses across the state.
Shweta Tiwari had sought help from Tukaram Mundhe after finding a cockroach in her delivery
Shweta Tiwari recently ordered an energy drink online. When she opened the order, the actress was shocked to find a cockroach inside. The actress released a video and questioned FDA officer Tukaram Mundhe, who has been in the news for food safety action in Maharashtra. In the video shared on her official Instagram account, Shweta Tiwari said, ‘We ordered Red Bull from Instamart. But Instamart also delivered this (cockroach) to our home. The cockroach is running around the entire house.’
In the second video, Shweta showed a cockroach and said, ‘Should we tag Tukaram Mundhe ji? Mundhe ji, cockroaches are coming into our house from Instamart. Where are you? Please pay attention.’
Preity Zinta and Twinkle Khanna also shared their views
Recently, actress Preity Zinta was spotted in Mumbai wearing a black T-shirt. The T-shirt had “Team Tukaram Mundhe” written on it. Her outfit was seen as a show of support for the officer’s food safety campaign.
Twinkle Khanna had also shared her views on the discussions surrounding Mundhe’s inspections. In a post, the actress-turned-author wrote, “Is seeing a government official simply doing their job such an unusual thing that it has become news?”
Salman Khan also jokingly invoked his friend Tukaram Mundhe’s name
Salman Khan shared a video of his friend Srishti Sahni’s newly opened café, ‘The Tuck Shop at Savio’s,’ in Mumbai’s Bandra. Salman also jokingly warned his friend to maintain the café’s hygiene.
Salman wrote, “Srishti, please refill my coffee. Don’t raise the price; maintain the quality. Maintain hygiene, otherwise I’ll send HIM and the job will be done, sister.”
Salman did not name anyone, but “HIM” is believed to be a reference to Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. This comes at a time when action regarding food safety has intensified in Maharashtra.
