Daman Thar & Fortuner Owners Road Safety Pledge

The Daman district administration organised a road safety campaign involving owners and drivers of Thar and Fortuner vehicles. Hundreds of SUVs were lined up at an open ground in Daman as part of the initiative.

The vehicle owners and drivers stood in formation in front of their SUVs and walked around the ground carrying posters with road safety messages. They later took a road safety pledge in Hindi.

Drivers pledge to avoid speeding, stunts

During the campaign, participants pledged to follow traffic rules and drive responsibly. They resolved not to overspeed or drive negligently.

They also promised not to perform stunts, racing or drifting on roads, and not to allow others to use their vehicles for such activities. Participants further pledged not to drive under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.

Pledge against unauthorised vehicle modifications

The participants also agreed not to make unauthorised modifications to their vehicles. These included changing vehicle lights or silencers, modifying tyres and applying dark films to windows.

They also pledged not to honk unnecessarily and to follow traffic rules while driving.

Collector urges owners to share campaign on social media

Daman Collector Mishra appealed to Thar owners to promote the road safety initiative on social media and tag Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra.

He suggested that Mahindra could also draw inspiration from the Daman campaign and launch a nationwide road safety initiative involving Thar owners.

Daman Deputy Collector Priyanshu Singh said all Thar and Fortuner owners registered with the Daman RTO were invited to participate in the pledge march.

Participants were also asked to remove unauthorised modifications and accessories, including windshields, modified tyres and sound systems, from their vehicles.
