Diljit Dosanjh is currently busy with his international concerts. During his Milan show, he invited a foreign fan on stage. The fan was wearing a customised white T-shirt featuring Diljit’s name alongside the sacred Sikh term ‘Ik Onkar’.
Diljit explained why ‘Ik Onkar’ should not be paired with his name
After noticing the T-shirt, Diljit explained to the fan that ‘Ik Onkar’ holds deep religious significance in Sikhism and should not be written alongside his name. He described the term as extremely sacred and priceless, adding that the fan may not have known its significance.
The fan then folded their hands and apologised to Diljit on stage. Diljit also asked the audience to forgive the fan.

In the viral video, Diljit is seen pointing towards the fan’s T-shirt and explaining why his name should not be written alongside ‘Ik Onkar’. He described the term as sacred and invaluable and said that he respects the fan’s feelings.
Rather than getting angry or scolding the fan, Diljit calmly explained the issue. He also acknowledged that the fan may not have known the religious significance of ‘Ik Onkar’ and did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

After explaining the matter, Diljit brought the fan to the centre of the stage and asked the audience to forgive him. He said the fan may have been unaware of the significance of ‘Ik Onkar’.
The fan then apologised on stage with folded hands. Throughout the interaction, Diljit remained calm and understanding.

After the video went viral, the fan addressed the matter in the comments section of the social media post. He explained that when he had the T-shirt made, he did not realise Diljit’s name would appear so close to ‘Ik Onkar’.
He clarified that there was no intention to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. The fan also said that he regularly visits a Gurudwara and apologised for any offence caused.

After the video surfaced, social media users praised Diljit for the way he handled the situation. Many said that instead of reacting angrily or turning a matter involving religious sentiments into a controversy, he chose to explain the issue calmly and respectfully.
Fans especially appreciated that Diljit did not publicly embarrass the foreign fan. His decision to explain the significance of ‘Ik Onkar’ and then ask the audience to forgive the fan has also received praise.
