The elderly woman falling on the road and the bike rider after hitting deceased elderly Ramvati Kushwaha on the road.
A 78-year-old woman who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in Gwalior succumbed to her injuries six days later.
The accident took place on July 27 near Kushwah Marriage Garden, where a speeding motorcycle carrying three youths struck the elderly woman. She died during treatment late on August 1.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, showing the bike hitting and dragging her for several feet.
Returning home after religious discourse
The deceased, Ramvati Kushwah, a resident of Sarvate Ki Pahadiya in Girwai, had attended a Bhagwat Katha at Baba Garden with her neighbour Usha Kushwah.
At around 5:45 pm, while the two women were walking home, a speeding motorcycle approached from behind and rammed into them near Kushwah Marriage Garden.
Dragged nearly 20 feet after impact
The collision threw Ramvati onto the road, and she was dragged nearly 20 feet along with the motorcycle. She sustained severe injuries to her head, shoulder, right hand, ear and other parts of her body.
She was initially admitted to Jayarogya Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital due to the seriousness of her condition. Despite six days of treatment, doctors could not save her.
Bike seized; rider booked
Following the accident, local residents gathered at the spot and alerted police. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s son, Brijesh Kushwah, Girwai police registered a case against the motorcycle rider.
Station House Officer Surendra Nath Yadav said the motorcycle has been seized, and further legal proceedings are underway. The CCTV footage has become a crucial piece of evidence in the investigation.
