In Uttarakhand, the Kedarnath pilgrimage remains closed for the third consecutive day due to continuous rockfall from a hillside near Cheerbasa on the Kedarnath trekking route.
Security forces have safely evacuated around 7,000 pilgrims, sending them towards Gaurikund. More than 500 people currently remain stranded. Helicopter services to Kedarnath Dham have resumed from today, though the trekking route remains closed.
Meanwhile, in Bihar, more than 49.67 lakh people across 15 districts have been affected by flooding. Five rivers in the state are flowing above the danger mark. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 22 districts in the state today.
The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for 72 districts in Uttar Pradesh. In Rajasthan, a rain alert has been issued until 17 September.
Most parts of Himachal Pradesh may see light rain. Haryana has a yellow alert for rain in 8 districts, while rain is expected in 18 districts of Punjab today.
