
A home guard beat a woman and dragged her by her hair on the ground at Hafeezpet railway station in Hyderabad. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The home guard was subsequently arrested. Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh said on Saturday that the home guard has been removed from duty and action is being taken against him.
The home guard was deployed at the railway station. A preliminary investigation found that the woman works as a waste picker. The two had an argument, and the woman allegedly abused the home guard.
Case registered against home guard
According to the police commissioner, the accused home guard is being produced in court to be sent to judicial custody. A case has been registered against him at Miyapur police station.
South Central Railway said on X that an investigation into the incident identified the accused as a Telangana State Police home guard. The railway has referred him to the Telangana State Police for further departmental action.
Cyberabad Police said it takes such incidents seriously. According to the police, it is responsible for ensuring that every citizen is treated with respect and dignity and that discipline is maintained.
