The Indian Women’s Cricket Team won the gold medal in the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Sri Lanka in the finals at Karogi Athletic Park in Nisshin.
This was India’s first gold in the Asian Games 2026. The Sri Lanka Women won the silver medal, while Pakistan won the bronze medal after defeating Bangladesh for third place earlier that day.
India secured a massive 147 runs against Sri Lanka to extend their reign as the Asian Games cricket champions.
After choosing to bat first, India went on to score 216/3, posting a record-breaking score in the continental showpiece.
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana made a solid start, scoring 67 runs in the powerplay.
Mandhana smashed a 37th T20I half-century in 30 balls. She fired a 45-ball 79 runs before being dismissed by Sugandika Kumari. Meanwhile, the aggressive batter Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh fired a solid score but narrowly missed their fifties.
Praboda bagged the wicket of Shafali Verma for 48 runs while Kavisha dismissed Harmanpreet Kaur for 19 runs.

Sugandika Kumari bagged the wicket of Mandhana for 79 runs while Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten with 49* runs. India women went on to score 216 runs in their 20-over innings.
This is the highest team total ever recorded in Women’s cricket at the Asian Games. Earlier, Hong Kong held the record, scoring 202/4 against Mongolia in the quarter-finals at the Hangzhou 2023.
Chasing the target, Sri Lanka lost all 10 wickets to score 69 runs. Shafali Verma bagged the first wicket, dismissing Imesha Dulani for 3 runs.
Shafali bagged her second wicket, dismissing Hasini Perera for a duck. Deepti Sharma bagged the crucial wicket, dismissing Athapaththu for 29 runs.
Sri Lanka tattered as they lost wickets at short intervals, and the Lankans lost all wickets in the 16th over.
Deepti Sharma was exceptional with the ball, returning with the figures of 3/6. Meanwhile, Shafali Verma, Shree Charani, and Shreyanka Patil bagged two wickets each.
