
Police presented the accused, who stabbed a 27-year-old woman 18 times for refusing marriage, in court on Sunday, from where he was sent to jail. The young man had stopped the woman on the road on Saturday and attacked her with a knife, severely injuring her. The incident occurred in the Bhedaghat police station area of Jabalpur. After the incident, people caught the accused, beat him severely, and handed him over to the police. Meanwhile, the injured woman drove her scooter home, from where her family took her to the hospital.
He came to see her in April, but the woman refused
According to the police, the woman, a resident of Bhedaghat, works in a private company. Her father passed away many years ago. Her family consists of her mother and younger brother. In April, 30-year-old Shubham Jankhade, a resident of Gorakhpur, came to see the woman with his family. The young man and his family liked the match, but the woman clearly stated that she did not like Shubham. After this, the relationship between the two families ended.
Kept stalking for three months
Police investigation revealed that even after the relationship broke off, Shubham continued to stalk the young woman. He tried to stop her and talk to her many times on the way, but the young woman refused every time. The young woman said that she would marry only the person who could understand her family’s responsibilities.

Attack by blocking the way
On Saturday morning, the young woman was going to work on her scooter as usual. On the way, Shubham first tried to stop her. When the young woman moved forward, he blocked her path with his bike and again pressured her to talk. The accused said that he loved her and would marry only her. When the young woman refused, he threatened her, pulled out a knife from his pocket, and attacked her repeatedly.
According to the police, the accused stabbed the young woman 18 times. She sustained serious injuries on her hands, legs, and back. The young woman fought off the attacker for a long time, but due to continuous blows, she was seriously injured.
Reached home by driving her scooter herself in an injured state
After the attack, the accused started fleeing on his bike. During this, people present nearby caught him and beat him up. Upon receiving information, Bhedaghat police station personnel reached the spot and took the accused into custody.
Meanwhile, the blood-soaked young woman drove her scooter home herself and narrated the entire incident to her family. After this, she was admitted to the Medical College Hospital for treatment. According to doctors, her condition is currently out of danger.
Accused with bandage on head, plaster on hand
Accused Shubham Jankhade also got injured in the mob beating. He sustained a head injury and had a plaster cast applied due to a fractured hand. After treatment, the police presented him in court, from where he was sent to jail under judicial custody.
Case registered for attempt to murder
Bhedaghat police station in-charge Kamlesh Choria said that it has come to light in the initial investigation that out of resentment over being refused marriage, the accused had arrived with a vegetable cutting knife. Police have registered a case against him under serious sections, including attempt to murder, and started investigation. The accused is being interrogated about when and how he planned the attack.
