A woman constable posted in Madhya Pradesh Police was raped by advocate Shohrab Sheikh Akhtar alias Saurabh, a resident of Makka Nagar, Jabalpur, who concealed his name and religion. He trapped her by giving false promises of marriage. When she became pregnant, he is refusing to accept the child as his own.
According to the victim, she is ready for DNA testing. The accused should also undergo DNA testing. She has alleged that the accused has ruined her life. Based on the complaint, Civil Line Police has registered an FIR and started investigation.
Meeting took place during duty at the court
The woman constable stated that in 2024, during duty at the court, she met advocate Shohrab Sheikh, a resident of Makka Nagar, Jabalpur. It is alleged that he introduced himself as Saurabh Singh Rajput.
After continuous meetings, friendship developed between them, which turned into a romantic relationship in about 6 months. The woman also visited the accused’s house several times, but she did not come to know about him being Muslim. About a year ago, the accused proposed marriage. He also assured her of his family’s consent.

Informed about being divorced from beginning
The woman said that she had told the accused in the beginning itself that she was divorced and had two children. Despite this, the accused agreed to marry and said that he had no objection to it.
Used to come home wearing lawyer’s uniform
The woman alleges that the accused always came to her house wearing a lawyer’s uniform. This made her family also trust him. Everyone agreed to this relationship. In August 2025, she came to know through Instagram that the accused’s real name is Shohrab Sheikh. He was already married.
The woman alleges that when she went to the accused’s house to protest after the truth came out, she was beaten up. She was living with two children after divorcing her husband. The accused had complete knowledge of this.
According to the woman, the accused convinced her to give up custody of one child by saying that having more than two children could create problems in government employment. After this, a case was filed in court in her name. Custody of one child was given to her ex-husband.

Allegation of establishing relationship by giving false promise of marriage
The female constable alleged in her complaint that the accused raped her multiple times by promising marriage. Later she came to know that the accused was not Hindu but Muslim. The woman says she was ready for marriage, but the accused kept postponing the marriage by making excuses every time.
The woman alleges that when she pressured for marriage, the accused took her to his home. There she was made to recite the Kalma, made to keep fasts, and was also fed beef. Even after this, the accused did not marry her and gradually distanced himself.
Refused to accept the child as his own after pregnancy
The woman alleges that she became pregnant due to rape by being deceived with the promise of marriage. Now the accused is pressuring her to get an abortion and is refusing to accept the child as his own. The woman said she is ready for DNA testing and the accused should also undergo DNA testing.
The woman also alleged that the accused is in contact with several other girls and is deceiving them as well. She claims that a woman from the Panagar area and a woman advocate from the court, whose daughter is also a lawyer, were also befriended and deceived by the accused.

Workers of Dharm Sena who reached the SP office with the victim woman alleged that the accused deceived a Hindu woman and violated her dignity. The organization warned that if the accused is not arrested soon, workers will stage a protest.
Police initiated investigation
CSP Bhagat Singh Gathoriya stated that a serious investigation has been initiated based on the woman’s complaint. The accused befriended her by hiding his name and religion. He committed rape multiple times by giving false promises of marriage. Based on the woman’s complaint, a case has been registered at Civil Line police station and the matter is being investigated.
