Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah has taken fans back to their school days with a nostalgic post about Awarapan 2. The pacer recently shared the poster of the recreated song ‘Tera Mera Rishta Continues’ on his Instagram Story and expressed his love for the music from the original 2007 film.
Sharing the poster, Bumrah wrote that listening to such songs during his school days made him feel “so cool” and added, “Pure nostalgia.”

His post quickly caught attention, especially among fans who grew up listening to the original Awarapan soundtrack. The 2007 film may not have been a major box-office success at the time, but its music and emotional storyline helped it develop a strong fan following over the years.
‘Tera Mera Rishta’ gets a new version
‘Tera Mera Rishta’ was one of the most popular songs from Awarapan. Composed by Mithoon, the original track became closely associated with Emraan Hashmi’s character Shivam Pandit and the emotional world of the film.

The song has now been recreated as ‘Tera Mera Rishta Continues (Film Ballad)’ for Awarapan 2. The new version features vocals by Saaj Bhatt and Subodhh Sharma and aims to bring back the emotional feel of the original while giving it a fresh sound.
The recreated track is part of the new film’s soundtrack, which has already generated discussion among fans of the first film.
Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam Pandit
Awarapan 2 brings back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit, the character that became one of the memorable roles of his career.
The sequel is directed by Nitin Kakkar and stars Disha Patani alongside Emraan. The cast also includes Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
The story once again revolves around love, pain, action and revenge. The trailer gives a glimpse of Shivam’s emotional journey as he faces new challenges and dangers.
Disha Patani plays Zara, while Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal and other actors play important roles in the story.
Trailer gets mixed reactions
While Bumrah’s nostalgic post has increased interest in the film’s music, the trailer has received mixed reactions from social media users.
Some fans are excited to see Emraan Hashmi return as Shivam Pandit and are happy to see the franchise bring back its popular music. Others, however, felt that the trailer relies too heavily on nostalgia.

Some viewers also questioned whether the sequel was necessary, especially because the original Awarapan has gained cult status over the years.
Despite the mixed reactions, the return of the iconic songs has certainly created curiosity around the sequel. The makers have already released tracks including ‘Yeh Awarapan’, ‘Ve Junoon’ and the new version of ‘Tera Mera Rishta’.
When will Awarapan 2 release?
Produced by Vishesh Films and presented by Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films, Awarapan 2 is written by Bilal Siddiqui and directed by Nitin Kakkar.
The film’s music features composers including Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Malik, Ankit Sachdev and Wasif Ahmad, with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva and Sachin Singh Chandel.
Awarapan 2 is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on 14 August, 2026.
For fans who have carried the memories of Awarapan and its music since 2007, Bumrah’s post is another reminder of how strongly the film’s songs continue to connect with a generation. Whether the sequel can recreate the same emotional impact remains to be seen.
