Five accused have been arrested for allegedly attacking a Jharkhand couple, robbing them and attempting to gang-rape the woman in Guna. Two other suspects are still absconding.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the 26-year-old woman and her fiancé, who works at the National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) facility in Vijaypur, were returning after visiting Hanuman Tekri.
Couple dragged to forest on pretext of bike puncture
According to police, the couple was stopped near a Reliance petrol pump by three men who claimed that their motorcycle had a punctured tyre.
After the man stopped, the accused allegedly took the motorcycle keys and dragged the couple by their hair into a nearby forested area. The suspects later called three more associates to the spot.
The accused allegedly assaulted the couple with sticks and slapped them before taking away their mobile phones and motorcycle. The man was taken to another location, while some of the accused allegedly attacked the woman.
Woman alleges sexual assault attempt, injury
The woman told police that the accused tore her clothes and attempted to gang-rape her. When she resisted, they allegedly tied her hands with her clothes and assaulted her.
She allegedly fought back by scratching and biting the attackers. She further alleged that one of the accused tried to insert a wooden stick into her private part, causing injuries.
The woman also told police that she could hear her fiancé screaming from nearby.

Police arrive, accused flee
Police reached the spot during the incident. The accused allegedly fled into the forest after seeing the police, leaving the woman behind.
Dharanawada police registered a case under Sections 115(2), 70(1), 127(1), 310(2) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
An SIT was formed to identify and arrest the accused.
Five arrested, two still on the run
According to Guna SP Hitika Vasal, a reward of ₹10,000 each had been announced for the arrest of the accused. Police used technical evidence and field operations to identify and arrest five suspects.
The arrested accused have been identified as Bablu (23), Chhotu (28), Sardar (30), Mahendra (20) and Dinesh (28).
Police said two other accused are still absconding and teams are conducting raids to arrest them.
