Amid the criticism that followed Kangana Ranaut’s remarks, Kriti Sanon issued a statement addressing the controversy. She said that festivals are not defined by the clothes a person wears but by the feelings and respect they hold for traditions and their meaning.

Kriti further explained that Raksha Bandhan celebrates the bond of protection. She said that she and her sister tie rakhis to each other because they believe they can protect one another just as much as any brother can.

She also questioned the practice of telling women what they should wear. Kriti said that while ethnic fashion has changed over the years, women are still often judged for their clothes and their respect for culture is linked to their appearance. She stressed that culture and traditions come from the heart, not from a person’s neckline.

As the controversy over Kriti’s outfit and the scene of her tying a rakhi to a pet dog grew on social media, the brand issued an official statement and apologised. It also removed the advertisement from all its social media platforms.
