In a separate incident in Mangaluru, a dispute between two brothers over a mobile phone turned violent, with the younger brother allegedly attacking his elder brother with a knife.
Belagavi: Friends’ chicken and liquor party ends in murder
In Belagavi, friends Sitaram and Arun were reportedly drinking and eating chicken together during a holiday when an argument broke out over who had eaten more chicken.
The dispute escalated, and Arun allegedly stabbed Sitaram in the chest with a knife. Sitaram died from his injuries.
After the incident, Arun reportedly took Sitaram to hospital and claimed that his friend had fallen from a building. Both men worked for a steel company in Belagavi and were residents of Kabirganj village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district.

Police initially received Arun’s account that Sitaram had fallen from a building. However, during the investigation and questioning, police found inconsistencies in his statement.
Arun eventually allegedly confessed to stabbing Sitaram with a knife. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mangaluru: Brothers fight over phone, younger sibling allegedly kills elder
The second incident took place in Mangaluru at around 10.30pm on Sunday. A dispute reportedly broke out between brothers Raju and Adiveppa over the use of a mobile phone.
During the argument, Raju allegedly attacked Adiveppa with a knife. Their mother later returned home after closing her shop and found Adiveppa lying in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The family lived in a rented house near Kottara Cross.

Police said their investigation revealed that the brothers shared a single mobile phone, which had led to the dispute.
Raju was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal attack.
