Lakhimpur Houses Swept Away | Bihar Floods & Punjab Rain Alert

In Bihar, around 50 lakh people across 575 panchayats in 15 districts remain surrounded by floodwater. In Katihar, government schools and coaching centres have been submerged, with children now attending classes seated in boats.

A yellow alert for rain has been issued for 26 districts of the state, along with a warning for lightning strikes.

In UP, rivers are in spate due to rain, with flood conditions in 26 districts affecting nearly 4 lakh people. In Lakhimpur, accelerated erosion by the Sharda river has swept away 7 houses in the past 24 hours.

In Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh, the road on the Adi Kailash route at Dobat has been shut again due to a landslide. In Rudraprayag, pilgrims are being sent along the Kedarnath trekking route near Cheerbasa wearing helmets as a safety measure.

Several horses and mules were killed in a landslide there four days ago, and complaints of foul smell and breathing difficulties have emerged due to carcasses lying along the route.

In Rajasthan, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for 26 districts until 17 September. Light to moderate rain fell in Ajmer, Pali and some other districts on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, rain is expected in the western region from 17-19 September and in the eastern region from 18-21 September.
