An inquiry has been ordered after students at a government higher secondary school in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district were allegedly shown the film Dhurandhar without official permission.
The incident came to light after a video recorded by villagers went viral on Sunday. The Education Department has initiated an investigation into the matter.
Video shows Class 11–12 students watching film
The incident reportedly took place on July 31 at the Government Higher Secondary School in Gram Panchayat Kathha under Amarpatan tehsil.
The viral video shows Dhurandhar playing on the classroom’s digital LED screen while Class 11 and 12 students watch the film.
A guest teacher, identified as Hansraj Singh Patel, can also be seen present in the classroom.
Film carries ‘A’ certification
The controversy has intensified because Dhurandhar has been awarded an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), making it unsuitable for viewers below the age of 18.
The screening of the film to school students has raised questions over the misuse of digital classroom facilities and adherence to educational guidelines.

Villager raises complaint through CM Helpline
Calling the incident a serious misuse of educational resources, local resident Nishant Tiwari lodged a complaint on the CM Helpline.
He alleged, “The digital LED screen, installed to support classroom learning, was being used to screen entertainment content instead of educational material.”
He demanded an impartial inquiry and strict action against those responsible.
Education Department orders probe
District Education Officer (DEO) Saloni Sharma said, “The matter has been brought to the department’s notice and the viral video is being verified.”
She stated, “An inquiry is underway and appropriate action will be taken against the teachers found responsible in accordance with departmental rules.”
