During Operation Sindoor, the S-400 system thwarted the Pakistani attack and shot down 5-6 fighter aircraft and a surveillance aircraft.
During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan reportedly launched a spying operation with the help of sleeper cells operating in India to locate the positions of India’s S-400 air defence systems.
Former Indian Air Force officer Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra said Pakistan used every possible method, including sleeper cells and espionage networks active in India.
In an interview with ANI, Mishra said that during Operation Sindoor, the S-400 intercepted and destroyed Pakistani missiles and other aerial threats in the air.
During Operation Sindoor, carried out on the night of May 6-7, 2025, a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist facility was severely damaged. India launched the operation in response to the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed.
Indian security and camouflage foiled the attempt
Mishra said Pakistan failed to locate the deployment of the S-400. India’s security arrangements and camouflage techniques foiled the attempt.

The S-400 Triumph is an advanced Russian missile system that was launched in 2007. It can intercept fighter jets, ballistic and cruise missiles, drones and even stealth aircraft. The system acts as a strong shield against various aerial threats and is considered one of the world’s most advanced air defence systems.
Demand for Indian weapons rises globally after Operation Sindoor
The use of Indian weapons such as BrahMos, Akash, loitering munitions and Netra during Operation Sindoor has increased global demand for these systems. Several countries have shown interest in purchasing them, while deals worth thousands of crores of rupees have already been signed with some countries.
Their combined value is more than ₹21,000 crore. According to the Defence Ministry, India’s defence exports reached a record ₹38,424 crore in 2025-26, up 62% from the previous year. BrahMos deals worth around ₹12,500 crore have been signed with the Philippines, Vietnam and two other countries.
