Panna Madrasa Molestation Case | CCTV Tampered; Maulvi Arrested Under POCSO

A Maulvi at a madrasa in Panna district has been accused of molesting a minor girl. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly took the student into a room, locked the door and attempted to engage in inappropriate acts with her.

The incident reportedly took place on July 31. The girl managed to leave the room and returned home, where she informed her family about the incident. Police registered an FIR against the accused on Saturday. The case relates to a madrasa under the Kotwali police station limits.

Girl had gone to Madrasa as usual

According to the family, the minor girl had gone to the madrasa to study as usual on July 31.

During this time, the maulvi allegedly took her into a room, closed the door and attempted to molest her. After managing to leave, the girl went home and told her family about the incident.

The complaint also alleges that the maulvi had cut the wires of CCTV cameras installed at the madrasa to destroy evidence of the alleged act.

Police said the severed CCTV wires will undergo technical examination to determine when and under what circumstances they were cut.

Police register case under POCSO Act

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vandana Singh Chauhan said the complainant’s family approached police on the night of July 31.

The complaint alleged that a maulvi working at the mosque had engaged in inappropriate behaviour with the minor girl.

Police registered a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections concerning molestation. The accused has been detained and is being questioned.

Police said a detailed investigation into the incident is underway and all aspects of the case are being examined.

The severed CCTV wires will also be subjected to technical analysis. Further details are expected to emerge after the investigation is completed.
