President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on the eve of the 80th Independence Day. The address will be broadcast at 7 pm on the entire national network of Akashvani.
It will also be telecast on all Doordarshan channels, first in Hindi and then in English.
After the Hindi and English broadcasts on Doordarshan, its regional channels will air the address in regional languages. Akashvani will broadcast the regional-language versions on its regional networks at 9:30 pm.
Droupadi Murmu is the 15th President of India. She is the country’s first tribal President and the second woman to hold the highest constitutional post. At 64, Murmu also became the youngest person to become President of India in 2022.

The ‘At Home reception’ will be held at the Amrit Udyan complex at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event will begin at 6 pm, and around 650 guests have been invited, including 100 VVIPs.
- What is special this year: The event will highlight the culture and heritage of four states — Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The theme focuses on the link between culture, communities and nature, along with environmental protection.
- Special welcome for guests: Guests will be welcomed with handwoven Maheshwari stoles made in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. The stoles feature traditional weaving motifs from all four states.
- What will be served: The menu will also focus on regional dishes in line with this year’s theme. According to reports, it will include Konkani patoleo, Chhattisgarh’s mini fara, Maharashtra’s khamang kakdi and Jabalpur’s gatpat from Madhya Pradesh.
- Cultural programmes: Folk and traditional art performances from all four states will be presented at the reception. These will include Gedi dance, Gaur Maria, Lavani, Tutari, Songi masks, Bhagoria, Baiga Karma, Samai and Ghode Modni.
