The student protest regarding alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations in Jharkhand continued for the 20th day on Thursday. Students are sitting on hunger strike and dharna at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi. 6 students are still on hunger strike.
On Wednesday evening, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and BJP leader Raghubar Das reached the protest site to meet the students. He said – “If an order for CBI investigation of the entire matter is not given within a week, I will sit on hunger strike in the name of Lord Birsa Munda. I will continue this protest until there is assurance that the future of Jharkhand’s students will not be in danger anymore.”
Meanwhile, Kanke Road was turned into a fortress on Wednesday night. At 11 pm, a large number of police forces were deployed near the CM’s residence. These include personnel from JAP-1 and JAP-6 besides district police. 280 personnel training in JAP-6 have also been deployed for the security of the Chief Minister’s residence. Besides this, barricading has also been increased. However, students have not confirmed any plan to gherao.
Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and BJP leader Raghubar Das arrived at the protest site to meet the students.
I strongly condemn the pressure tactics: Raghubar Das Raghubar Das said – “I strongly condemn the pressure tactics adopted by the officials of the Hemant Soren government to break the morale of our youth and children and force them to end their movement.
I want to warn these administrative officers and employees. You should worry about your career. Your career is linked to the Government of India and the Home Ministry. Your career is linked to the people of Jharkhand.
The taxpayers of Jharkhand are the ones who give you your salary and bungalows. Do not try to interfere in this movement. Otherwise, the people of Jharkhand will demolish your system brick by brick.”
Meanwhile, the students’ demand is that the movement will continue until the JSSC-CGL examination is cancelled and a CBI investigation into the matter is conducted. The students now want to directly negotiate with Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding their demands.

Earlier on Tuesday night around 12:30 AM, DC Manjunath Bhajantri and SSP Jaipal Singh reached the Satyagraha site built in the stadium to persuade the students. The DC inquired about the students’ well-being. He said that for those among you who want to go home, the administration has arranged vehicles. If there is any kind of problem, you can inform the administration.
Meanwhile, the SSP met with students from JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum and JPSC JSSC Justice Forum and asked how many of you have taken the JPSC exam? And how many have taken the JSSC CGL exam.
After separating the candidates who had taken both exams, he asked that the demands of JPSC candidates have been accepted, so what are you people doing here? To this, the students said that this is not just about one exam and one student. It is a question of all students’ future, until our demands are met, the movement will continue.
Fast at BHU in support of Jharkhand students
Meanwhile, students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have opened a front in protest against the lathi-charge on students in Jharkhand. Students have supported the protesting students of Jharkhand by observing a one-day fast on the BHU campus. Students have demanded that the Jharkhand government seriously consider the demands of the protesters and find a solution.
BHU students say that the way lathi-charge was carried out on students protesting over issues related to their rights and examinations in Jharkhand is not appropriate in a democratic system. Students strongly condemned the lathi-charge and expressed solidarity with the injured and wounded students.
‘We want the Chief Minister to talk to us’ – Student Leader
Student leader Ravindra said-
Our movement is still ongoing. We want to tell the Chief Minister that sir, we are students. We don’t know how to do politics. Whatever happened on August 10, students are not at fault in that. Please discuss students’ issues. We want the Chief Minister to talk to us. It’s possible that the people who are conveying our message to him are not able to present our arguments properly. We have all the arguments. Please sit with us once, you will find our demands completely justified. We hope that you will show seriousness towards students and their issues.”
What happened during the Jharkhand Bandh on Tuesday
In protest against the lathi-charge that took place on Monday in Ranchi, BJP called for a statewide bandh on Tuesday. In Ranchi, BJP workers blocked roads at several places. In some districts, workers were also seen forcibly closing shops.
Police have detained people in several cities. During the Jharkhand Assembly gherao, there was a clash between ABVP workers and police. The workers had gathered near the old Assembly, where police arrived to detain them.
Some workers lay down on the road, while some sat in front of police vans. Police continuously tried to remove them, during which pushing and shoving and clashes occurred.

More than 100 students injured in lathi-charge
Students protested on Monday against alleged irregularities in JPSC-JSSC recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. More than 100 students were injured during the siege of the Assembly. It is being said that several students suffered fractures in their hands and legs.
Meanwhile, around 14 police personnel from Ranchi Police have also been injured. Three rounds of talks have already taken place between the government and students, but no solution has been reached. However, the government has accepted 6 out of 9 demands of the students.
The students say that now they will only hold talks with Chief Minister Hemant Soren. On the other hand, the BJP alleges that the Jharkhand government resorted to lathi-charge on the protesters instead of negotiating on the students’ demands.

Meanwhile, during the monsoon session, Chief Minister Hemant Soren accused the opposition of misleading the youth. He said, “The opposition will keep making noise, we will continue doing our work. The government is taking decisions in the interest of students.” CM Soren said-
Addressing the Assembly, the CM said, “Looking at the incident that has been going on for the past two-four days, we feel that the opposition has nothing left now, but sometimes they remain hidden behind different methods and keep themselves alive with the help of different sources, just like a parasite survives.”
Minister’s claim – Attempt made to assassinate Hemant Soren
Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari has made a serious allegation against BJP MLAs of attempting to kill CM Hemant Soren. He said, “This was not just a protest, but an attempt to kill the Chief Minister, but he survived.”
The minister claimed that at the time when BJP MLAs were staging a dharna outside the CM’s residence, the CM was present inside with his wife and children. He has demanded action against the BJP MLAs from the Assembly Speaker.
