Amid the BRICS Summit in Delhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday. The two leaders held a breakfast meeting.

PM Modi welcomed leaders at the BRICS Summit
The BRICS Summit is being held in Delhi on 12 and 13 September. Today is the final day of the summit. On the first day, PM Modi welcomed leaders from various countries at Bharat Mandapam.
They included Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ugandan Vice-President Jessica Alupo.
New Delhi Declaration issued on Saturday
BRICS countries adopted the New Delhi Declaration 2026 on Saturday. It expressed deep concern over the continuing escalation of tensions in West Asia. The declaration called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from actions that could further escalate tensions in the region.
Gaza and Israel-Palestine issue also discussed
The declaration reiterated BRICS’ support for a two-state solution to achieve a lasting resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. It also highlighted the need to increase international institutional support for Palestine.
BRICS also underscored Israel’s legal obligation to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The statement emphasised the international community’s role in addressing the humanitarian situation in the region.
