BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu staged a protest against CM Mann near the gate of Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana.
Led by former Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, BJP workers threw eggs and tomatoes at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s convoy in Ludhiana on Saturday. Near the gate of Punjab Agricultural University, Bittu waved a liquor bottle towards the Chief Minister’s convoy and said he was returning the bottle to Mann. While throwing bottles, he said:
“Bhagwant Mann, enjoy your liquor and let Arvind Kejriwal loot Punjab from Delhi.”
During the protest, Punjab Police detained Bittu. After he was detained, a post was published from Bittu’s X handle:
“The people’s voice cannot be silenced through detention and police cases. Punjab Police have detained us today, but our morale is high.”
A day earlier, before the BJP’s anti-drug chariot march began, former Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu’s convoy was attacked. Bittu was travelling from Amritsar to Pathankot on Friday (18 September) to join the march.

Bittu said, “The eggs and tomatoes thrown at me were returned”
Ravneet Bittu said, “A day earlier, eggs and tomatoes were thrown at my convoy near Batala. The same were returned during today’s protest. Vehicles were damaged in the attack on my convoy; the AAP was behind all of this.”
The BJP will respond to the AAP
Bittu said that if Aam Aadmi Party workers oppose BJP leaders, rallies and marches, BJP workers will also stage democratic protests against the Punjab government and its leaders. He said the BJP would continue to raise issues concerning Punjab.

Warning of protests outside the CM’s programmes
Bittu said that, if necessary, the BJP would stage peaceful and democratic protests outside the Chief Minister’s programmes and offices. He accused the Punjab government of suppressing political dissent through police action.
Bittu’s convoy was attacked on Friday
Former Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu’s convoy was attacked near Batala on Friday, before the BJP’s anti-drug chariot march began. According to Bittu, the convoy was surrounded, the windows of the vehicles were smashed, and eggs and tomatoes were thrown at them. He accused supporters of Joban Randhawa, the AAP constituency in-charge from Fatehgarh Churian, of carrying out the attack under the cover of a langar. Security personnel immediately took Bittu into a house.

After the attack on former Union Minister Ravneet Bittu’s convoy, security personnel had surrounded him from all sides.
The BJP’s 4,000-km anti-drug yatra began from Pathankot on Friday. BJP national president Nitin Nabin flagged it off. Raghav Chadha targeted the AAP over the incident, while Nitin Nabin said BJP workers were not weak. The 13-day yatra will cover all 117 Assembly seats in Punjab and conclude on 30 September with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Jalandhar.
