In his post, Tharoor had written “in his 76th birthday” instead of “on his 76th birthday”. Tagging Tharoor, a user wrote, “Shashi ji made a grammar mistake, even if it is a fat-finger error.”
Tharoor replied, “Yes, I wrote ‘in’ instead of ‘on his birthday’. This happens often.”
Tharoor faced backlash after using the word “drama” on Nepal floods
Shashi Tharoor faced criticism on social media last month after using the word “drama” on X regarding the floods in Nepal. After arriving in Kathmandu, Tharoor had expressed concern over the damage caused by the floods there.
In his initial post on X, Tharoor had written that he had left for Kathmandu the previous day, completely unaware of the “drama” unfolding in the mountains and the heavy devastation it had caused.
Social media users questioned his use of the word “drama,” with one user asking whether it was an appropriate term for such a situation. Tharoor subsequently defended his choice of words and offered a clarification.

In an X post, Tharoor had written, “I was asking inevitable question.” Users pointed out the grammatical error. Tharoor clarified that he had dictated the post, and that voice transcription had turned “asked an” into “asking.” He said that, in his haste, he had not proofread the post.
