Cancer & Heart Medicine Hub in Ujjain

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is set to become a hub for manufacturing cancer medicines. Here, in Vikram Udyogpuri, medicines related to cancer and heart are being produced, which are not made anywhere else in Central India.

The medicines manufactured here are now being sent to major cities of Madhya Pradesh, as well as to other states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

VRM Molecular & Nuclear Medicine Private Limited, located in Vikram Udyogpuri, is manufacturing medicines for cancer as well as for the heart, with the help of which blockages in the heart can be detected three years in advance.

Additionally, the production of FDG for full-body cancer screening, PSMA for prostate cancer, and FES medicine used in breast cancer screening has also started at the Ujjain unit. These medicines are being used in cancer scanning. The special thing is that cancer medicines are prepared only at night, which are then quickly delivered to patients in the morning.

Production started in a 4-acre plant

With the special cooperation of Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC), production of cancer medicines had started from March 2026 in VRM’s 4-acre plant, which commenced on November 3, 2025, in Vikram Udyogpuri.

For the first time, Dainik Bhaskar will tell you what kind of risks doctors and unit staff take to work overnight to make cancer medicines. How they prepare and deliver medicines to patients.

The biggest risk in the manufacturing of cancer medicines is radiation. Due to this, robots are also working alongside 50 employees at the Ujjain plant. This is why the results for medicines used in cancer and heart diagnostics are extremely accurate. Soon, a testing unit for cancer detection will also start at the VRM plant in Ujjain.

Medicines are made by working all night

Radiation is used in the production of cancer medicines. Therefore, employees have to take special precautions while working. Radiation is very harmful to the body.

To detect cancer in a patient, they are first kept on an empty stomach. So that their examination can be done properly in the morning and they face no problems, medicines are delivered to the hospital by morning, with work continuing throughout the night in the unit.

Potency decreases every two hours

The most important thing is that cancer medicines are prepared at night. The reason behind this is that as soon as the medicine is made, its potency continuously decreases. To detect cancer, the patient is given about 10 mCi of medicine, but this medicine halves every two to four hours. After the next four hours, it converts into glucose.

Riaz Khan, Project Manager of VRM Company, stated that the medicine is administered according to the patient’s distance. For longer distances, medicine up to 30 to 50 mCi is sent, so that by the time it reaches the patient, 10 mCi of the medicine remains effective and cancer can be accurately diagnosed.

The biggest risk in manufacturing and transporting the medicine is radiation. For this, special vehicles have been prepared. As soon as the medicine is prepared, it is sent to the hospital by vehicle at night. Special care is also taken to ensure that the driver does not come into contact with radiation while transporting the medicine.

3 types of cancer diagnostic medicines are being prepared

Project Manager Riyaz Khan stated that medicines for cancer detection are primarily manufactured here. These include FDG, PSMA, and FES. FDG is used for full-body scans and helps in cancer detection.

PSMA is used for prostate cancer detection, while FES is used for breast cancer detection. He informed that this is Central India’s first cyclotron site. A cyclotron is a type of nuclear reactor used to prepare nuclear medicine.

Heart Blockage will be detected 3 years in advance

A medicine is also being developed in Ujjain, with the help of which anyone can get tested and find out whether there is a risk of blockage in their heart in the future or not. If there is a blockage, its location and extent can also be estimated.

Riaz Khan informed that an NH-3 ammonia test is conducted for the heart. This helps in the detection and calculation for the heart. It reveals which artery of the heart might develop a blockage in the next three years. In other words, it provides a future prediction for the next three years.

Robots Used for the First Time in Making High-Tech Machines and Medicines

Project Manager Riyaz Khan claimed that VRM has the most modern technology available in the country. The company has India’s state-of-the-art cyclotron, which is currently being used.

The robot we have is also India’s first such robot, working with this technology. Currently, no other site has this type of robot available. With its help, extremely precise results are being achieved in the manufacturing of medicines.
