The body of a 20-year-old youth, who had been missing for three days, was found wrapped in a sack in bushes behind a school in Amkui village, Jaso police station area, Satna district, on Tuesday morning. After the discovery of the body, the villagers’ anger flared up.
Enraged people pelted stones at the police, vandalised several police vehicles, and protested. As the situation deteriorated, additional police force and Vajra vehicles had to be deployed. During this, there was also a scuffle between women and police personnel.
The family alleged that the police did not register the missing person report on time, which led to losing the opportunity to save the youth. The deceased’s family and villagers are demanding interrogation of the detained suspect and recording his statement in front of them.
The deceased has been identified as Atul Kushwaha (20), son of Ramkesh Kushwaha, resident of Amkui. According to the family, Atul left home around 9:25 PM on August 1st. After that, his mobile phone was switched off, and he did not return home.
