Actor Sunny Deol recently arrived in Kolkata to promote his upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’. He interacted with fans at a promotional event attended by the film’s cast and director Rajkumar Santoshi.
During the event, a fan requested Sunny to recreate a dialogue from the popular animated series ‘Oggy and the Cockroaches’. Sunny responded by delivering the dialogue in his signature style. In the Hindi-dubbed version of the show, the character Jack’s voice is known for its resemblance to Sunny’s distinctive dialogue delivery. A video of the moment is now going viral on social media.
Said, “I haven’t watched the show,” then delivered the dialogue
At the promotional event in Kolkata, a fan asked Sunny Deol to recreate a dialogue from the cartoon series ‘Oggy and the Cockroaches’. The fan told him about a Hindi-dubbed line from the show that resembles his signature voice and style: “Hey, I am dad, the dad of the world.”
Sunny smiled and admitted that he had never watched the show, but said he would give it a try. He then delivered the dialogue in his characteristic loud and energetic style, drawing loud cheers and applause from the audience.
Connection of ‘Oggy and the Cockroaches’ with Indian dubbing
‘Oggy and the Cockroaches’ is a popular animated series created in France by Jean-Yves Raimbaud. The show ran for multiple seasons between 1998 and 2019 and was first introduced to Indian audiences on Nickelodeon in 2009.
When the series later aired on Cartoon Network in India in 2012, its characters were given voices inspired by the distinctive styles of popular Bollywood actors. The voice of Jack, the green cat, was designed to resemble Sunny Deol’s iconic dialogue delivery. The unique dubbing became especially popular among children and young viewers in India.
‘‘Bantwara 1947’ released in theatres
Sunny Deol’s film ‘Bantwara 1947’ has now arrived in theatres. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film features Sunny as a Muslim man who travels to Pakistan during the Partition of India.
After reaching Pakistan, his character meets a Hindu woman, played by Shabana Azmi. The story follows his efforts to protect her and his family amid the turmoil of Partition.
Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh and Kanishka Kapoor in important roles.
