Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has criticised Kangana Ranaut over her recent ‘Generation Gutter’ remark about Gen Z. He said that referring to the country’s youth in such terms reflects a negative mindset and added that young people should not be judged as a single group.
Questioned Kangana’s past
Speaking to TV9 Bharatvarsh, Ramdev questioned Kangana’s own upbringing and past while reacting to her statement. He said he did not want to comment on such people but called describing Gen Z as ‘Gutter Generation’ a sign of a “deranged mind”. He also said that members of Kangana’s party should take note of the remark.
Said he would not overlook her comments
When asked whether Kangana had been a fan of his yoga, Ramdev said that praising him or yoga would not make him ignore what he considered her “sins”. He made it clear that he would not support her statement simply because she appreciated yoga.
Youth is a powerful group
Ramdev further said that today’s youth cannot be defined by caste, class or community. He said young people include those from different social and religious backgrounds and described them as a major force. He added that young people have the power to challenge even the most powerful systems.
What Kangana had said
Kangana had recently shared an Instagram Story criticising what she described as young Indian women trying to imitate independent, career-oriented women without taking responsibility for the freedom they seek. She said genuinely independent women make their own choices, express their opinions openly, pursue careers outside traditional paths and take responsibility for their decisions.
Kangana referred to what she called the new generation of Western-minded Indian women as ‘Generation Gutter’, which prompted Ramdev’s criticism.
