The Mumbai Police has uncovered an alleged fake conspiracy in the extortion threat case involving actor Salman Khan. According to the police investigation, the accused allegedly created fake WhatsApp chats and used a false identity associated with a gangster gang to demand money from the actor.
The police reportedly found discrepancies between the accused’s claims and CCTV footage. During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to fabricating the entire story. This information was reported by news agency IANS.
Two mobile phones recovered near Bandra Sea Face
During the interrogation, the accused allegedly told the police that he had used electronic means to create fake WhatsApp chats and falsely projected himself as being associated with a gangster gang to intimidate others.
Based on the information provided by him, police recovered two mobile phones that had reportedly been hidden near Bandra Sea Face. Screenshots of the alleged fake WhatsApp chats were also seized in the presence of witnesses.
Salman has been provided with Y+ category security by the Maharashtra government. 11 personnel remain with him at all times.
Salman received a death threat in April last year
Salman Khan had received a death threat in April last year. An unidentified person allegedly sent a WhatsApp message to the Transport Department in Worli, Mumbai, threatening to blow up the actor’s car with a bomb. The message also allegedly threatened to enter Salman’s house and kill him. Police later arrested an accused from Gujarat in connection with the case.
₹1.30 lakh received via PhonePe from Bihar
The investigation also revealed that the accused had allegedly received around ₹1.30 lakh through PhonePe from Siwan, Bihar. He reportedly collected the amount in cash from a money transfer agent in Bandra.
Mumbai Police has registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act. Police are now investigating whether the accused acted alone or if others were also involved.
Firing had earlier taken place outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartment
Before this, firing had taken place outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartment on April 14, 2024. At around 5 am, four rounds were fired at the building using a 7.6-bore pistol while Salman was reportedly present inside the house.

Salman has Y+ category security
Salman Khan’s security was increased after he received threats allegedly linked to the Lawrence gang in 2023. The Maharashtra government provided him with Y+ category security, with 11 security personnel reportedly deployed for his protection round the clock. This includes commandos and personal security officers (PSOs).
Two escort vehicles reportedly accompany Salman’s car from the front and back.
His vehicle has been made bulletproof.
After the firing incident outside Galaxy Apartment, the balcony of his residence was reportedly made bulletproof in January.
High-resolution CCTV cameras have also been installed around the building.
Salman to host ‘Bigg Boss 20’
On the work front, Salman Khan is set to return as the host of Bigg Boss 20, which is scheduled to begin on September 6. Talking about the new season, Salman said that while every season brings new games and twists, this time a mystery will be at the centre of the show.
