Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu got visibly upset when she was asked about Kangana Ranaut. Recently, Kangana had accused Taapsee of mocking her upbringing and parents in a social media post.
Responding to the question during the promotions of her upcoming film Gandhari, Taapsee said that the controversy would end on its own once people and the media stopped asking her questions about it.

Taapsee says the media is keeping the controversy alive
When Taapsee was asked about Kangana’s allegations, she responded by saying that people were not allowing the matter to end. She said, “Why don’t you let this matter end? When people stop asking both of us this question, this issue will also come to an end.”
Taapsee further said that people enjoy watching the controversy, which is why the same questions keep being asked. According to her, if such questions had stopped earlier, the matter would have ended long ago.
Kangana called Taapsee a ‘cheap copy’
Earlier, Kangana Ranaut had shared two Instagram Stories, which she later deleted. In one of the posts, Kangana accused Taapsee of trying to make headlines to promote her upcoming film and referred to her as a “cheap copy.”
Kangana also alleged that Taapsee had crossed a line by making fun of her upbringing and parents.
Kangana questions Taapsee’s parents in deleted post
Kangana further wrote that she believes all parents do their best for their children and that she usually does not bring parents into an argument. However, she said that she wanted to ask Taapsee’s parents why they could not raise an “original human being” like her parents did. Kangana again referred to Taapsee as a “cheap copy” and said she felt sorry for her parents’ efforts.
Kangana says she comes from a prestigious family
After this, Kangana shared a news report featuring Taapsee’s comment and said that people often question her upbringing and parents. Defending her family, Kangana said that she comes from a prestigious Rajput landlord family and that her parents are well educated.
Kangana says starting her career from scratch was her personal choice
Kangana said that it was her personal decision to leave her family and start her career from scratch. She questioned why her parents and upbringing were being dragged into the controversy because of the choices she made in her life.
Taapsee-Kangana feud goes back several years
The dispute between Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut is not new. Their war of words reportedly began around 2018–19. During the promotions of Manmarziyaan, Taapsee had said that Kangana needed a filter while expressing her opinions.
The controversy escalated in 2019 when Taapsee praised the trailer of Kangana’s film Judgementall Hai Kya but did not mention Kangana’s name. Reacting to this, Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel called Taapsee a “sasti copy”, meaning a cheap copy.
Following this, after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020, the debate on nepotism in Bollywood intensified. During this time, Kangana called Taapsee and Swara Bhasker ‘B-grade actresses’. Kangana had said that despite being outsiders, both of them support nepotism. On this, Taapsee had said that outsiders should not fight among themselves.
