On Wednesday, a sudden flood from Tibet caused massive devastation in Nepal’s Rasuwa district. From Timure to Trishuli Bazaar and Betrawati, floodwaters and debris destroyed houses, roads, and bridges, while a hydropower project was also washed away. In many areas, the scene of the flood was such that even the helipad was swept away, forcing rescue helicopters to return without landing.

The terrifying scene of the flood was captured on CCTV cameras at the Rasuwagadhi border point in Tibet, on the Nepal-Tibet border. This is where the flood entered Nepal.
The Gyirong port, located on the Tibet-China border, was also hit by the flash flood. Dozens of people present there were swept away.
The dam of the 216 MW capacity Upper Trishuli-1 hydroelectric project near the Nepal-Tibet border broke due to the strong flow of water.
After the dam broke, there was a rapid surge of water in the Trishuli basin.
Water entered Trishuli Bazaar with a strong current, washing everything away with it.
In Timure, Rasuwa, Nepal, goods vehicles, transport businessmen, and employees have been affected by the flood coming from the Tibetan region.
Floodwater from Rasuwa has reached Narayanghat in Chitwan; the water has even reached the statue of Lord Buddha here.
A young man trapped in the flood waved his t-shirt to signal, after which an army helicopter rescued him.
People’s household belongings were washed away in the strong current of the flood. Many people jumped into the river to retrieve them.
Damaged houses and vehicles buried in debris were seen after the water flow stopped in Rasuwa district.
The Disaster Management Department of the Government of Nepal conducted an aerial survey of the areas devastated by floods. Damage was visible in several areas during this survey.
