A bus carrying 65 tourists from Arambagh has been stranded in Nepal amid growing concerns over their safety following the recent flash floods in the country. The bus is currently at Chetan Park, around 120 kilometres from the disaster-hit area.

The group of 65 tourists left Arambagh for Nepal on August 24. Their families became anxious after they were unable to contact the tourists for several hours on Wednesday morning. Although contact was established later in the evening, concerns over their safety remain.
Families worried over tourists’ safety
Poor network connectivity in Nepal has made regular communication difficult. The families have urged the authorities and tour operators to ensure the tourists return safely to Arambagh at the earliest.
The bus owner is also concerned about the situation and hopes the vehicle carrying the tourists can return to Arambagh soon.
36 Kolkata tourists remain uncontactable
Around 36 tourists from Kolkata travelled to Nepal through Cholo Jai Travels, but their families have so far been unable to establish contact with them. Several tourists are reportedly from Jadavpur and south Kolkata.
The development comes amid growing concerns over Indian tourists following the devastating flash floods in Nepal. Another group of 32 people from Kolkata has also remained uncontactable since the disaster.
30 tourists were travelling to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar
According to the travel agency, 30 tourists were travelling to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar, accompanied by two staff members from the agency. The group left Kolkata on August 21 and reached Nepal on August 22.
One member of the group reportedly sent photographs from Kathmandu on Tuesday. However, communication with the 32-member group could not be established until Wednesday night. Families of the tourists are anxiously awaiting information about their whereabouts and safety as rescue and relief operations continue in the flood-affected areas.
Flash floods wreak havoc in Nepal
Flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border caused widespread devastation in Nepal’s Rasuwa district on Wednesday morning. At around 9 am, a sudden surge of water from the Bhotekoshi River, originating in Tibet, swept through several areas, damaging infrastructure and leaving several people missing.
100 people have been reported dead so far
According to the Nepali police, at least 100 people have been reported dead so far. Nepal’s Tourism Department has said that more than 1,000 people are missing, including 133 Indians and more than 300 foreign tourists.
Rescue teams and security personnel have been deployed to search for missing people and assist those stranded in the affected areas. The disaster has also intensified concerns among families in India waiting for information about relatives who travelled to Nepal.
