Allahabad HC rejects plea challenging Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship:Petitioner fails to produce evidence proving LoP as a citizen of UK


The Allahabad High Court has refused to entertain a petition challenging Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s eligibility to remain an MP on the grounds that he is allegedly not an Indian citizen. The case was dismissed after the petitioner failed to produce even a single document to prove his allegation that Gandhi was a citizen of the United Kingdom. The order was passed on August 31 by a bench of Justice Shekhar B Saraf and Justice Abdhesh Kumar Chaudhary. According to a report by BarandBench, after considering the Court’s observations, the petitioner chose to withdraw the plea. The request was granted by the Court.
