Salman Khan shared a video of his friend Srishti Sahni’s new cafe, ‘The Tuck Shop at Savio’s’, in Bandra, Mumbai, on his Instagram Story on Friday. While sharing the video, Salman jokingly asked her to maintain the cafe’s prices, quality and hygiene.
He wrote, “Srishti, please refill my coffee. Don’t increase the prices, maintain the quality. Maintain hygiene, otherwise, I will send HIM and the job will be done, sis.” Salman posted the message along with a video shared by the cafe owner.
Although Salman did not mention anyone by name, his reference to “HIM” is being seen as a possible hint at Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. The remark comes at a time when food safety-related action has intensified across Maharashtra.

Salman also gave his popular “It’s done, bro” catchphrase a playful twist. He ended his message to Srishti with “It’s done, sis.”
FDA steps up food safety checks in Maharashtra
Salman’s light-hearted warning comes at a time when food and beverage outlets across Maharashtra are facing increased scrutiny. The state FDA has stepped up inspections of restaurants and other establishments over food safety, hygiene and licensing violations.
Tukaram Mundhe takes charge as FDA Commissioner
Tukaram Mundhe took charge as the Maharashtra FDA Commissioner on May 26, 2026. Since then, the department has increased inspections at restaurants, hotels, clubs, fast-food outlets and institutional kitchens.
During Mundhe’s first two months in office, the FDA carried out more than 3,000 inspections, while the licences of nearly 165 food establishments were suspended.
Action over hygiene and food adulteration
The inspections covered complaints and violations involving poor hygiene, food adulteration, fake paneer, adulterated milk and businesses operating without the required licences.
Mundhe’s strict approach has also earned him the “Real-Life Singham” tag on social media. However, Salman did not mention his name in his Instagram message.
Mundhe stresses importance of food safety
While addressing students on Independence Day, Mundhe spoke about the importance of food safety and public health.
He said, “I believe that for a healthy nation, it is necessary to have healthy people. Good food and medicines are essential for healthy people. For this, regulators should work towards this goal.”
Given Mundhe’s reputation for taking strict action, Salman’s reference to sending “HIM” if hygiene is not maintained is being viewed as a humorous reference to the FDA chief.
FDA notices Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff
The Maharashtra FDA had also issued show-cause notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff on August 11 over their appearance in a Vimal Elaichi advertisement.
The manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution and sale of pan masala are banned in Maharashtra. The FDA is examining whether the advertisement could amount to surrogate advertising, indirectly promoting the banned Vimal Pan Masala brand.
Ajay and Tiger respond to the notices
Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff have submitted their responses to the FDA, while a response from Shah Rukh Khan is still awaited. All three actors were given 15 days to respond after receiving the notices.
According to a CNN-News18 report, the regulator has received responses from Ajay and Tiger, while Shah Rukh’s response has not yet been received.
The FDA has questioned whether the elaichi advertisement could indirectly promote Vimal Pan Masala because of the branding used in the campaign.
FDA seeks proof from the actors
The FDA had asked all three actors to provide evidence showing that the Vimal Elaichi advertisement was for a separate product.
They were also asked to establish that the campaign was not a surrogate advertisement for the banned Vimal Pan Masala or other tobacco products. The regulator sought agreements, campaign briefs and other documents connected with the advertisement.
Shah Rukh Khan’s response is awaited
With Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff having submitted their responses, the FDA is now waiting for Shah Rukh Khan to reply.
If a response is not submitted within the given deadline, or if the explanation is considered unsatisfactory, further legal action could follow. Under Section 53 of the FSS Act, misleading food advertisements can attract a fine of up to ₹10 lakh.
