Girl Jumps Into Chenab River In Doda

A girl jumped into the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. The incident took place at around 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Shiva Dal Bridge near Prem Nagar. She has not been traced since jumping into the river. The police, the State Disaster Response Force, and local residents are searching for her in the river.

The girl’s father told the police that she had spoken to him using someone else’s phone before attempting suicide. He asked her several times what was troubling her and whether someone had harassed her. The girl only said, “No, Papa, this is my own life. My heart is telling me that I should take this path.” She then said, “Bye-bye, Papa,” and jumped into the river.

What is the full case?

The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Payal Devi. According to her family, Payal had gone to a local fair in the village on Saturday. Later, she called her father, Krishna Lal, and told him that she was feeling unwell and planned to see a doctor.

When she could not find a doctor, she was returning home on a motorcycle with a man. Shortly afterwards, the man called Payal’s father and told him that his daughter wanted to speak to him. He then said that she had suddenly run towards the Chenab River.

Her father immediately spoke to her over the phone. During the call, Payal reportedly said “bye-bye” to him before jumping into the river.
