Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has made a strong start at the box office. The film earned ₹16 crore net in India on Monday, taking its four-day collection to ₹109.75 crore. Its worldwide gross has reached ₹154.05 crore.
Enters ₹100-crore club in four days
The film crossed the ₹100-crore mark within four days and has now become the 8th highest-grossing film of 2026. It has moved ahead of films such as ‘Alpha’ and ‘Cocktail 2’.
Outperforms several big films on first Monday
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has also posted better first-Monday numbers than Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’, ‘Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’.

Mirzapur sets a record
The film has become the 8th highest-grossing film of 2026 in just 4 days. It has earned more than films like Alpha and Cocktail-2. Looking at the current earnings, it can be estimated that it may soon surpass the earnings of Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle and Awarapan 2 as well.
38.8% occupancy in 10,570 shows on Monday
On Monday, 38.8% of seats were occupied across 10,570 shows of ‘Mirzapur’. Meanwhile, the devotional drama ‘Hanuman Ansh’ recorded 36.0% occupancy in its 7,343 shows. ‘Hanuman Ansh’ earned ₹10 crore on its 32nd day on Monday.
Net earnings of ₹16 crore on the first Monday
According to Sacnilk, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ earned a net of ₹16 crore in the country on its first Monday, i.e., the fourth day of its release. This is a decline of 37.86% compared to the opening day. However, in terms of a weekday, the earnings have been excellent. Usually, earnings drop by up to 40% on the first working Monday compared to the first day.
Surpassed many films in first Monday earnings
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is at the 39th position in the list of films with the highest earnings on the first Monday in the country so far. However, it has surpassed the ₹15.65 crore earnings of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
The film has also surpassed the first Monday collections of Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ (₹15.54 crore), ‘Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva’ (₹15.10 crore), and Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ (₹15.05 crore).
₹22.50 crore from overseas market in 4 days
This gangster-action-drama is receiving a good response overseas as well. The film grossed ₹2.50 crore in the overseas market on its fourth day.
The total gross collection from the overseas market in 4 days stands at ₹22.50 crore. Combining the earnings from India and abroad, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached ₹154.05 crore.
Film in controversy over a song
A controversy erupted over the use of Rajasthani rapper and artist Rapperiya Baalam’s song ‘Shoorveer’ in ‘Mirzapur: The Film’. Rapperiya Baalam released a video claiming that the song was used in the film without his permission.
Amidst the controversy, the song’s music label, Trooper Records, has issued a statement saying that it had officially licensed ‘Shoorveer’ to Excel Entertainment for use in the film. In its statement, Trooper Records wrote, “Trooper Records is happy to share that ‘Shoorveer’ was officially licensed to Excel Entertainment for use in ‘Mirzapur: The Film’. Congratulations to Excel Entertainment and the entire Mirzapur team on the release.”

In the same statement, the label also shared the credits for the song. In it, Rapperiya Baalam has been credited as the singer and composer of ‘Shoorveer’.

What was the controversy over the song?
Mirzapur: The Film was released on September 4. The song ‘Shoorveer’ was featured in the film. Following this, Rajasthani singer Rapperiya Baalam released a video on social media claiming that the song belongs to him and was used without permission. According to the rapper, the song was used in the film during scenes involving violence and gunfire, which tarnished the image of his state, whereas he had originally created the song as a tribute to Maharana Pratap.

In the video, he said, “Some of you might ask why my heart is broken. You might say that I should be happy because my song is in Mirzapur. But the Mirzapur team did not take my permission to use my song. Who gave them permission? I certainly didn’t.”

Rapper questions use of ‘Shoorveer’ in the film
Rapperiya Baalam said the song ‘Shoorveer’ is dedicated to Maharana Pratap and questioned its use in a film where it could be seen as glorifying the villain. He said the team should have approached him if they wanted to use the song and added that he would have offered several ideas.
He also raised questions about the song’s copyright and licensing, asking who had granted the rights and whether the proper copyright permissions were in place.
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ becomes Excel Entertainment’s biggest opener
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is among Excel Entertainment’s first major theatrical films based on a successful streaming franchise. The original series premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 and has now expanded to the big screen.
The film has recorded Excel Entertainment’s biggest opening, surpassing films such as ‘Don 2’, ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Raees’ and ‘Gold’.
Three seasons of ‘Mirzapur’ have been released
The first season premiered on November 16, 2018, with nine episodes. Season 2 arrived on October 23, 2020, with 10 episodes, while Season 3 was released on July 5, 2024, also with 10 episodes.
