Investigating agencies are also identifying the other arrested associates
Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted an overground worker (OGW) network allegedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Rajouri and arrested three suspected terrorist associates, officials said late Monday.
The accused were identified as Zakir Hussain and Mohammad Azam, both residents of Kotcharwal Teriyath in Rajouri, and Mohammad Mushtaq, a resident of Udhan village.
Police also recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) during the investigation based on information provided by one of the accused. Investigators suspect the device may have been handed over by the terrorist group for safekeeping or for use in a targeted attack.
According to police, the three accused allegedly provided logistical and ground support to terrorists, including safe routes and guidance through the Pir Panjal region towards the Kashmir Valley. They are also suspected of acting as guides and helping terrorist groups move safely through the area.
A police spokesperson said the accused are being investigated for their alleged links to terrorists involved in several major attacks, including an attack targeting civilians. Officials described the arrests as a significant breakthrough against the terrorist support network operating in the Pir Panjal region.
An IED was also seized based on information provided by one of the accused.
Pakistani LeT terrorist’s decomposed body found in Doda
The development comes days after the decomposed body of a Pakistani terrorist allegedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba was recovered in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Saturday.
A joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) Doda, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF recovered the remains during a search operation. An M4 rifle fitted with night-vision equipment was also found at the site, police said.
