30-year-old TV actor Rohit Chandel has been part of several popular shows.
Actor Rohit Chandel, known for shows like Pandya Store and Sairab, has been granted bail in a POCSO case. He has been accused of stalking a 16-year-old girl, repeatedly calling and harassing her, and assaulting her. Mumbai Police arrested him in July.
A case was registered against Rohit under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He had been in jail for nearly two months before being granted bail.

Incorrect details in charge sheet
Rohit Chandel initially faced difficulty getting bail after discrepancies were found in the case documents. According to reports, his profession was wrongly mentioned as “businessman” instead of actor, while his religion was also recorded incorrectly. His medical records reportedly listed him as married, although he had stated that he was unmarried.
Second bail plea rejected
Rohit’s second bail plea was rejected on July 22. His lawyer had argued that the errors in the government documents should not affect the case. After this, the 16-year-old complainant recorded her statement before a judicial magistrate.
Arrested from home
A complaint was filed against Rohit under the POCSO Act on July 10, and he was arrested from his home in Dahisar the same day. He was produced before the Special POCSO Court.
According to the complaint, Rohit allegedly repeatedly called and harassed the minor, including from another number after she stopped answering his calls. The complainant also alleged that on July 5, he tried to stop her near her home, followed her and later abused and assaulted her during an argument. Pant Nagar Police also invoked Sections 78 and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against him.
Co-star expresses shock over arrest
Sairab actress Kishori Shahane reacted to the arrest of her co-star Rohit Chandel. Speaking to TellyChakkar, she said that when she first read the news, she thought it was part of the show’s promotion because a similar track is currently running in the serial. She later realised that the matter was real. Kishori said the shooting is continuing as usual and that she does not have much information about the case.
Rohit Chandel’s acting journey
Rohit Chandel was born in Shahada, Maharashtra. After being rejected in around 90 auditions, he got his first commercial advertisement and made his television debut in 2014 with Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal. He later appeared in shows including Chandragupta Maurya, Tamanna and Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai.
In 2022, Rohit played Rajkumar in Disney+ Hotstar’s web series Skype Live. He became popular with shows like Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Pandya Store. He is currently seen in Sairab.
