Actor Chandrachur Singh’s brother, Abhimanyu Singh, filed an FIR against seven people, including his aunt, at Roravar police station in Aligarh on Friday (August 28), alleging that they had occupied family land worth crores of rupees and an ancestral mansion and prepared a forged will.
Abhimanyu said, “After filing a case in civil court, we have now taken criminal action. The police will deal with it from here.”
Speaking on Saturday (August 29), Abhimanyu said, “The family’s lands are spread across Jalalpur and several surrounding villages. There is also an ancestral mansion known as Jalalpur Estate, which my aunt Gayatri Devi Singh has occupied in collusion with seven other people.”
The FIR names Gayatri Devi Singh, Jai Singh, Anjani Singh, Robin Aakeson, Sandeep Kumar Singh, Shiv Kumar and Ajit Singh Tomar as accused. An unidentified person has also been named as an accused.

Actor Chandrachur Singh belongs to the Jalalpur Estate family
Chandrachur Singh has worked in films such as Maachis, Josh, and Kya Kehna. His family is counted among Aligarh’s old zamindar families. His father, Captain Baldev Singh, served as an officer in the Indian Army.
He was elected MLA from the Sadar Assembly constituency in 1985. The family’s lands are spread across Jalalpur and several surrounding villages. Small and large disputes over the land had occurred in the past as well, but this is the first time the matter has come out into the open.
Dispute escalated after uncle’s death
Chandrachur’s uncle, Ganga Singh, had been living in Sweden for a long time. After his brother’s death, Ganga Singh came to live at the Jalalpur mansion.
Ganga Singh died in October 2025. Since then, tensions within the family have intensified over possession of and claims to the ancestral property, the mansion, and land associated with the trust.

Forged Will, prepared a day before Grandfather’s death
Our grandfather was a very prominent zamindar in Aligarh. He passed away in 1997. A forged will was prepared just one day before his death. Along with some family members, outsiders were also involved in this major conspiracy. Through this forged will, all the valuable land was transferred in the names of a single family and two individuals.
Collusion with tehsil officials
The will was never probated either. Uncle Ganga Singh’s wife and son fraudulently took possession of the mansion and the land. In an extremely devious manner, they colluded with officials and employees of the tehsil office to manipulate the revenue records. By changing the names, they illegally sold these properties for years.
We were in Mumbai while this was happening behind our backs
My family had been living in Mumbai for a long time. Since we lived far from Aligarh, we had no inkling that our ancestral properties were being occupied and sold. Now that we have learnt about the fraud, we have engaged a legal team.
The ancestral property also includes the historic mansion, The Jalalpur Estate, built in 1870. It is a heritage property. All the documents have been retrieved, and complaints have been submitted to senior officials.

Case had reached court; criminal action will now follow
Chandrachud’s brother Abhimanyu said, “I had filed a civil suit in the Aligarh court. I had been continuously gathering evidence for the past two months. Now, I have had a criminal case registered in this matter.”
Not only family members are involved in this land dispute and fraud, but some local politicians are also trying to get involved in it through improper means. Legal action has been taken against all of them.
