Amit Shah in Siliguri: Keep Security Forces Above Politics

Addressing an event in Siliguri, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said security forces such as the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Border Security Force (BSF) should not be linked to any political party or government.

Referring to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s remarks, Shah said the state’s Chief Minister had attended an SSB programme for the first time.

He said the former Chief Minister had also been invited to SSB programmes in the past but chose not to attend.

Shah welcomed Adhikari’s presence at the event and said, “We invited you, you came, and we welcome you.”

‘Security forces do not belong to any political party’

Shah said the SSB, BSF and other security forces are not political organisations or agencies of any particular government. He said these forces protect the country’s borders with great dedication and hard work.

‘Political parties should maintain a cordial relationship with soldiers’

The Home Minister said that regardless of political differences or which party is in power, all political parties in Bengal and at the Centre should maintain a close and cordial relationship with the country’s soldiers.

He said the relationship with the armed and security forces should remain above party politics, as they work to protect the country and its borders.

Amit Shah recalls Bismillah Khan’s love for the Ganga and Kashi Vishwanath

Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared a quote by legendary shehnai player Ustad Bismillah Khan, saying it reflected his great personality.

Shah said that when Khan was asked where he felt the greatest joy while playing the “shehnai”, after performing in Parliament, before several Presidents and at many major events, he gave a simple answer.

Khan said there was “no greater joy” for him than playing the shehnai on the banks of the Ganga in the morning, in the presence of Kashi Vishwanath.
