Amravati Hospital NICU Fire Tragedy

Maharashtra’s Amravati District Women’s Hospital witnessed a fire in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at around 3:30 am on Monday. Three newborns died in the incident. Six children were shifted to a super-speciality hospital for better treatment.

According to preliminary information, the fire broke out after an explosion in a ventilator on the hospital’s third floor. Smoke then spread through the unit. At the time, 39 newborns were undergoing treatment in the NICU.

As soon as the fire broke out, doctors, nurses and hospital staff on duty launched a rescue operation and safely evacuated several children. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
