Bar Council Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra has apologized to law students after the Hyderabad University convocation ceremony controversy. According to a Bar & Bench report, Manan sent his apology in a letter on Independence Day.

However, the letter does not name the university, nor does it directly mention the controversy. But it does refer to the events of the past few days.

Manan wrote-

If any statement related to the current controversy, any of my words or letters, has hurt the sentiments of our law students, then I apologize for it. There should be no hesitation in saying so. Expressing regret is not a matter of prestige or ego. It is merely an acknowledgment that the feelings and concerns of our students matter.

Earlier, the Supreme Court on Friday reprimanded the Bar Council of India (BCI) over the NALSAR controversy.

CJI Suryakant had said – Even if the students’ decision is wrong, they still have the right to express themselves and protest.
